Maybe it was the black velvet. Maybe the black satin. Maybe it was the fact that this gorgeous, fits-like-a-glove dress had been hanging on the clothes rack until its date passed by and the thrift store management had categorized it as a 1$ purchase. Yes. One dollar.
So today I felt that no hat, no shoes, no accessories were needed.
Just this dress.
With its satiny skirt and velvet bodice.
Its puffy shoulders.
And its lovely satiny sash that drops with a bow over one hip.
One dollar.
Don't you think that sometimes just a dress will do?
Oh. For you tag hounds. No formal label, but just this little heavy paper label sewn inside.
Anyone know what that tag means?

Gasp, black velvet, black satin! You look INCREDIBLE! Stunning dress on a beautiful woman.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress - it was meant to be wasn't it? I love charity shop karma.
ReplyDeleteNo idea baout that label!
ReplyDeleteIt's rather lovely, and I adore that first twirly pic, with your hair flying...just gorgeous! X
I love the $1 rack. A local charity shop sometimes has a $0.10 rack! I found a burgundy velvet dress, I wore it a couple of times and just gave it to a friend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful that is one gorgeous dress and you wear it well!! ~Love Heather
ReplyDeleteYou are my kind of girl, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh a fabulous dress for 1 dollar, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress - reminds me of a bridesmaid's dress I wore in 1987.
ReplyDeleteWell what an awesome dress! I adore the neckline, and what a great set of photos! The lighting, colours, and composition in #2 are especially outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI referenced your spectacular $1 find in my post featuring my $1 blazer here:

That's a whole lot of lovely dress for $1! It has a 1980s Laura Ashley look to it actually, though I have no idea what the label means. Great twirly photos too! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! I really want a velvet one myself, but that one is beautiful and such a bargain, you lucky lady! No wonder you want to skip round the tree in it! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful, Dylan. I wonder if this was a custom dress, such as someone suggested above, maybe for a group of awesome bridesmaids? I was in a lot of weddings back in th' day, and I would have killed for a black velvet dress, but no, got puffy purple Southern belle complete with hoop instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bargain, it looks very Laura Ashley like and totally you. xxx
ReplyDeletei don't know what that tag means, but the dress is very decadent. i love all of the textures and fabrics! i love your simplistic take on it with no shoes or accessories!
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about labels, but your dress is marvellous!! I adore velvet and I just can't get enough of black, so it's just perfect! I love your jumping photos!

ReplyDeleteWOW! That dress suits you so well. Fits you to a tee. You are rocking it! The simplicity is its beauty. Your hair is amazing!
ReplyDeletehmmm.. idk what the label means- mabye they were hand made and that number is the number it is? or maybe that's the style number? hah. idk. I like velvet thought! I got a brown velvet blazer from salvation army for $10 that was originally $150(tag) I like deals!
