Flirting with Mustard. Married to Gray.

Dear Dress Lovers,

Thanks to Megan of Megan Mae Daily, I truly challenged myself this week.

It was a good thing, too. I affirmed some things that I thought I knew.  I discovered some things that I did not know!

I did affirm that my hips are larger than I'd like, but who's looking?  I affirmed that mustard is a color that is never in my wardrobe!  I just do NOT look good in yellow.  Of.  Any.  Shade.  I finally decided that perhaps it's not so bad at the back of my head!  I took the famous black cloche (see last post) and retrimmed it with a quickly made-up, mustard yellow fabric brooch. 

Friday's challenge was gray, so I decided to make one big photo shoot of the gray and the mustard and try several different looks! 

In the search for yellow at Goodwill, I was taken into some sections that I normally just sweep past; namely, the suits and the yellow section! 

I found some gorgeous things while looking and cannot wait to share some of them with you!  Today's posting is not the most dramatic and the photos are not prize worthy, but I did want to share some of the things I discovered and see what you think about the different looks. 

It is totally amazing the difference that just changing out a skirt or a hat or a blouse can make!

 

I felt sort of Bohemian in this jacket.  And I have come to the conclusion that I love gray!

There were a couple of other ways I tried to work mustard in that were not so bad.

 

 

One was to take a couple of fabric brooches and pin them on a black vest.  The whole look of this outfit was rather austere, except of course for the punch of yellow!

 

 

 

But it did have the Annie Oakley Wild West look that I so much love!  I think I'd be a wild cowgirl if I went back in time.  Well, okay, maybe not, but I would love the clothes!!

 

 

 

In thinking that the brown skirt was just too drab, I did find a rose covered rayon skirt with a touch of mustard in the middle of some of the roses. 

 

 





Hair up and belt added, I feel I could pass for a librarian or schoolmarm.
